More efficient, faster, better: CNC24 relies on automation
The procurement platform for precision components sees itself as a pioneer for digitalization in the manufacturing industry. All steps in the AI-supported matching of customers and suppliers are already mapped digitally. CNC24 is now investing further in automation in order to increase efficiency, speed up processes and optimize customer service.
The digital transformation poses a major challenge for many companies. CNC24 sees itself as a partner in this process: the team of digitalization and manufacturing experts is pursuing the vision of a supply chain in which all important order-related processes are mapped digitally and run automatically. “Our goal is to significantly increase efficiency in the procurement process through digitalization and automation,” explains Willi Ruopp, CEO and co-founder.
Experts monitor and supplement automatic processes
The Smart Manufacturer business model is based on the realization that processes in the manufacturing industry are often organized inefficiently: It takes buyers a lot of time to find suitable suppliers, compare prices, ensure quality and manage all these ordering processes. The start-up is now subjecting its own processes to a regular review in order to drive forward digitalization and automation in the right places. “However, it is extremely important to us that our experts remain part of the process and contribute to quality assurance in the right places,” explains Marlon Gerat, CPO, Co-Founder and trained tool mechanic.
Automation of order and quotation management
The short-term measures for further automation are being implemented in the areas of order processing and quotation preparation. The customer submits production drawings with the inquiry, which are then automatically read out, digitized and anonymized before they are sent to the manufacturing network. CNC24 not only speeds up the inquiry process, the digital capture also means that more data on the individual components is read out than before. This additional information helps to match components and manufacturers.
In the next step, numerous offers are received from the paver network for this order. These are also read out digitally. An algorithm-supported selection process is used to prepare the quotation, taking into account the price, delivery time and quality of the suppliers. Intelligent pricing functions for suppliers and customers round off the process before production experts check and send the quotations.
A strategic investment
Automation measures exploit potential in various areas: speeding up processes saves time for customers and employees. The order volume can thus be increased with a constant number of employees. Automated data collection minimizes sources of error, which increases process quality. Investing in automation is therefore a strategic decision to increase efficiency in all areas and further improve customer service.
About CNC24:
CNC24, a brand of CNC24 GmbH, is a digital B2B procurement platform through which individual precision components can be sourced transparently and efficiently. Manufacturers from 22 countries produce the mechanical components individually according to customer specifications. The manufacturing processes offered by the leading online marketplace for mechanical engineering include turning, milling, sheet metal processing and additive manufacturing. With its innovative platform solution, the technology company creates a transparent process for the procurement of production parts and digitalizes the value chain through to a fully automated procurement process. Thanks to its global network of suppliers, the company can guarantee free capacity, high material availability and on-time delivery of components at all times. For quality control, all parts undergo an additional inspection process in the in-house measuring center before they are delivered. CNC24 was founded in 2019 by co-founders Willi Ruopp and Marlon Gerat. The start-up serves all industrial sectors with a need for production parts – from special machinery and plant engineering to IOT, medical, testing and measurement technology. Its customers include well-known companies such as SIEMENS, DIEHL Group, Qualcomm, KRONES AG, Carl Zeiss, Vishay, BASF, CERN, FANUC, Syntegon, Jonas & Redmann, the Max Planck Institute and Fraunhofer.
