CNC24 supports start-up in the production of automated extinguishing drones
Together with the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW), smart manufacturer CNC24 is supporting the start-up NatureTec in the development of an unmanned swarm of drones to efficiently combat forest and vegetation fires.
Berlin, October 19, 2022 – In addition to further developing its own business model, CNC24 also uses its manufacturing expertise to support other start-ups in the implementation of forward-looking projects. CNC24 is a digital platform for the procurement of industrial components and has an international network of 500 certified manufacturing partners. The company covers all manufacturing processes for mechanical components.
The start-up NatureTec, which has developed an unmanned extinguishing drone to fight forest fires safely and easily, also relies on CNC24’s manufacturing expertise. The start-up commissioned the Berlin-based smart manufacturer to produce the patented coaxial rotor solution. “As part of the collaboration, we were able to fully utilize the strengths of our network approach by identifying suitable manufacturers from Europe and Asia for the individual components. We are proud to be working together with NatureTec and HTW on a technological solution that will hopefully be a game changer in the fight against forest fires,” says Marlon Gerat, Co-Founder and Head of Production at CNC24.
Using the automated supplier matching algorithm, the CNC24 production experts identified suitable suppliers for each component who could meet the specific component requirements. All of the required components were then checked for quality in CNC24’s in-house measuring center after production. “We were impressed by CNC24’s manufacturing expertise right from the start. With the help of CNC24’s feedback, we were able to optimize the components and make significant cost savings. As a start-up, we don’t have our own measuring center, so the additional quality assurance provided by CNC24 was very important to us,” emphasizes Prof. Dr.-Ing. Erik Grädener, Managing Director of NatureTec.
The swarm of drones is controlled with the help of satellite technology and will transport more than 280,000 liters per day to the fire scene. The low costs compared to firefighting helicopters, the round-the-clock operation and the rapid availability allow the firefighting drones to be used flexibly. The swarm of extinguishing drones will provide real support for the fire department.
